Premier choice for Labiaplasty in Davis, Beverly Hills, and Los Angeles
Labiaplasty is the most popular vulvar procedure that improves the quality of life for many women. It can correct issues such as labial asymmetry and reduce the size of the inner labia if it protrudes beyond the outer labia. The procedure can also enhance and tighten labia that have become loose due to age-related declines in elastin and collagen, and restore self-confidence following childbirth or weight loss.
If you’re like Sarah and find that your labial tissue is interfering with your day-to-day life and self-esteem, labiaplasty may be worth considering. Several factors can contribute to labia minora hypertrophy, including genetics, weight loss, aging, childbirth, or other trauma. Labiaplasty surgery can significantly improve appearance and confidence, and relieve discomfort during intimacy and chafing during exercise.
Don’t let discomfort and dissatisfaction hold you back. Consider labiaplasty to feel confident, comfortable, and empowered in your own body.
When Should You Consider Labiaplasty?
It may be worth considering labiaplasty if labial tissue is interfering with normal day-to-day life and self-esteem.
Several factors can contribute to labia minora hypertrophy, including genetics, weight loss, aging, childbirth, or other trauma. Labia minora hypertrophy can pose both aesthetic and functional challenges in addition to causing discomfort during intimacy and chafing during exercise. Labiaplasty surgery can significantly improve appearance and confidence.
The Benefits of Labiaplasty
Labiaplasty is an extremely effective procedure to address issues of discomfort and dissatisfaction by providing the following benefits:

- Reducing the size of the inner labia if it extends beyond the outer labia
- Enhancing and tightening labia that have become loose due to age-related declines in elastin and collagen
- Restoring self-confidence following childbirth or weight loss

What to expect during your labiaplasty procedure?
Labiaplasty at Dr. Michael Reed’s office is performed under local anesthesia for your safety. We provide an anxiolytic medication, and topical numbing cream, and have ProNox™ (patient-controlled laughing gas) available to keep you comfortable. The procedure can last about 1-4 hours depending on anatomy, complexity, techniques performed, or if you choose to add on other procedures like clitoral hood reduction, vaginoplasty, perineoplasty, or fat transfer to the labia majora. Our knowledgeable surgical team is dedicated to ensuring a seamless experience.
What about recovery from labiaplasty?
After the labiaplasty procedure, patients will rest at the facility for a short time. Dr. Reed requires that a friend or family member drive the patient home. He also encourages patients to reach out to him with any questions or concerns after the surgery.
About a week after labiaplasty surgery, Dr. Reed will meet with the patient for a post-op examination. He wants to be sure they are healing well. Generally, most women take a few days off from work.
Recovery Guidelines After Labiaplasty
Love Bag
Our office provides a surgical recovery “Love Bag” to ensure you have all of the tools necessary for your comfort and healing.
At Home
Treat the surgical site with ice packs for the first three to five days: 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off.
Use a stool softener to prevent constipation.
Don’t exercise for at least two weeks and then only with medical approval.
Wear loose clothing, avoid using tampons, and do not participate in oral sex, anal sex, or intercourse.
Do not soak in water including bubble baths and hot tubs.
Pain and Healing
Most of our patients describe the pain related to recovery as totally manageable. We prescribe a short prescription pain regimen and many women manage postoperative pain with over-the-counter medications like Tylenol or Motrin. As the nerves heal and the stitches dissolve, patients may feel itching, which they can treat with an antihistamine such as Benadryl, as well as a topical spray that will be provided in your surgical recovery “Love Bag”. These symptoms usually subside after just 7-10 days.
At six weeks after the labiaplasty, patients will have mostly healed. However, it will take four to six months to see the final results of the procedure.
